hi folks , first post on the forum since joining so be kind and not to harsh!!!

heres a few pictures i took of the falkirk wheel .

Good stuff Mark... the blue really stands out and the reflections look great.

I haven't heard of this before, what is it? a bridge?

I believe it's essentially like a loch. Boat goes in one end, other end fills up with water, swinging the wheel round, bringing the boat up to the top level. I'm too lazy to go look for details, but i believe it joins a river to a canal.

Number 3, for me, is the best of the bunch, very well done

It's a canal lock.

It basically picks up the boat at the top and then rotates round while keeping the boat still and then docks at the bottom and the boat can continue on it's jaunt along the canals.

It's an impressive feat of engineering, Mr Lex might have some shots too as I believe he's from around those parts.

Sad truth is I live about a 20 min drive from there, in fact if I'm honest I'm at work at the mo and have to go and do an assessment for a training course and will be driving past the wheel on my way, shame I don't have the camera though

yup it joins the union canal and the forth and clyde. its a rotating wheel .

As Bane says it is a very impressive piece of engineering but tbh I don't think I do have any shots of it...

Keith, are you from around this part of the world too?...This part of the world being the areas around Falkirk.
